Cincinnati’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s

For the third year, our JANCOA family came together for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. We were there as Team Tony, walking for a cause that has become deeply personal to our family and for everyone whose life has been changed by Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
This year we were walking with a mission: replace fear with hope. For us, that means sharing our story, helping more people learn about the disease, and supporting the Alzheimer’s Association in its work toward a cure.

Our Family’s Connection to Alzheimer’s

This event became personal for JANCOA when Tony was diagnosed with dementia. Since then, Mary and Tony have been open about their experience and the ways life has changed.
“Life has not stopped, but it has changed,” Mary says. “Both of us are more intentional about being present and grateful every day.”
That perspective is at the heart of Team Tony. For the past three years, our family business has participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, standing alongside others who know what it means to have this disease touch someone they love.
Our support extends beyond the walk. JANCOA also attends the annual Alzheimer’s Association Gala and provides a financial donation to support the organization’s work. Each opportunity gives us another way to stand behind a cause that means so much to our family.

Raising Alzheimer’s Awareness in Cincinnati

Our goal this year was to help more people understand Alzheimer’s and other dementias, learn about the disease, and support the ongoing effort to find a cure.
For Mary and Tony, that starts with talking about their experience. An Alzheimer’s diagnosis can bring uncertainty and fear, but their story doesn’t end with the diagnosis. Life continues, even as it changes.
That’s what replacing fear with hope means to us. By walking together, talking openly, and supporting the Alzheimer’s Association, we can help bring greater awareness to a disease that affects families throughout our community. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s gives Cincinnati a place to turn that awareness into action.
